NRI can purchase sites, apartments and commercial properties in India

Non-Resident Indians are lawfully permitted to buy residential sites and apartments which are lawfully carved out or formed with all permissions and approvals of the concerned state government and are not permitted to buy farmlands, agriculture lands, and plantation lands.

The marketing/sellers/agents are trying to sell farmhouses, which are clearly agricultural lands, which are cut into small pieces and does not residential nor commercial nature.

The buyers are advised to conduct due diligent enquiry and consult a Chartered Accountant before embarking upon such purchases.

It is also found, that Karab lands and encroached forest lands are being sold as plantation lands/property, therefore, it is recommended to thoroughly check the antecedents of the title.
