NOISE POLLUTION – VEHICLES
HIGH DECIBEL ALTERED SILENCERS
The RTOs in the city will go for a drive to check two-wheelers, especially those with altered silencers. On Wednesday, officials impounded a few Bullet bikes near Manyata Tech Park for high decibel altered silencers. Joint commissioner of transport for Bengaluru Urban J Gnanendra Kumar said that a penalty has been imposed for first-time offenders and if they were found repeating the offence, registration certificates of the vehicles will be suspended, he further stated that the “Bullet bikes were seized for altering the silencers which was causing noise pollution and it had even touched 100 decibels. As per the rules, alteration of vehicles is not allowed. There is a provision even to cancel the RCs of the repeat offenders. Instructions have been given to taken stern action against the violators.”

Penal action will be taken against the vehicles with shrill horns.
PENALTY FOR NOISE POLLUTION
The penalty amount for noise pollution from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 (Rs 2,000 for subsequent offences). Still, increased penalty has not become a determent and people are found violating rules. In addition to the penalty for causing noise pollution, there is a provision to impose penalty of Rs 500 for altering the vehicles against provisions of motor vehicles act.
