Majestic
BBMP has served notices to 34 shop owners who have put up permanent structures on an SWD in a prime location of Majestic.
The assistant executive engineer of Gandhinagar subdivision served the notices to the shop keepers on August 6 asking them to vacate the drain site since the civic agency would soon demolish all structures there. The notice was served under Section 288 D, which gives the commissioner the power to remove encroachments without notice.
The BBMP is implementing the order of the High Court of Karnataka, which has asked the permanent structures at the spot to be demolished. Notices served to the shopkeepers states that the shops have been constructed on an SWD and footpath meant for the movement of pedestrians.
