The apartment complex put up a barbed wire fence in place of the compound wall that was recently demolished by revenue officials.
High drama ensued at Sarakki lake area on Sunday as the apartment complex, Elita Permonade, put up a barbed wire fence in place of the compound wall that was recently demolished by revenue officials, as part of the encroachment clearance drive.
Tahsildar, Bengaluru South, Dayanand, has lodged a complaint with the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) naming two individuals — site manager Nagesh and resident Col. Jagadish. BMTF has registered an FIR for encroaching upon public property.
According to a recent survey, the apartment complex had encroached upon four feet of the lake area, and hence the compound wall on it was demolished on Friday. “The apartment residents argued that they had put up a barbed wire fence to prevent stray dogs from entering the apartment. But if that was so, they should have put it up in their area leaving the four feet we recovered recently. This is clear encroachment,” said L.C. Nagaraj, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bengaluru (Urban).
He also added that a survey of the apartment would be conducted as a portion is suspected to be on encroached land.
Revenue officials demolished the barbed wire fence that the apartment residents had put up and recovered the four feet area that a recent survey declared as being part of the lake.
IT MUST BE NOTED THAT SURVEY IS UNDERWAY AS PER THE DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION SUSPECTING THAT A PORTION OF THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX IS IN THE “GOMALA LAND”, IN SUCH A CASE, ANOTHER CASE OF ENCROACHMENT AND DEMOLITION IS “IN THE CARDS”.
