BBMP RESOLUTION TO ISSUE KATHA TO REVENUE SITES – PROPOSAL SENT TO THE GOVERNMENT

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has passed a resolution to issue `A` katha to all the betterment paid revenue sites at its council meeting on Wednesday and will soon be sent to the government for approval.

However, collection of one-time betterment charges/ fee will commence only after the government approves.

The government has already framed rules and regulations for the Akrama Sakrama scheme, the BBMP cannot issue a circular on collection of betterment charges from revenue sites without getting the approval from the government. The Government is in a fix over couple of stay orders in the High Court regarding the notorious Akrama Sakrama Scheme, and is unlikely to approve it as it is against the Court Order.

  1. When it is clear to everyone and especially to the government and government agencies that betterment charges cannot be collected and sites cannot be regularized till the court allows it, what is the meaning and significance of these resolutions and circulars? Every now and then somebody in the government or the concerned deparments announces that betterment charges will be collected. This is just misleading.

    1. Dear sir,
It is True. It cannot be done. There is an existing stay order against the amendment. But, our corporators pass the resolution. BBMP proposes and the High Court Disposes it. Illegal and unauthorised site owners will be happy, hearing about the news.
The matter might be contested in the Supreme Court and in that juncture, the resolution passed by it does not have legal sanctity.
Hope, this plaint gets the clearance from the High Court soon.
