A Hero to be remembered on this day – Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw.
We pay our respects to one of the greatest generals on his 100th birthday in his absence.
Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw, “Sam Bahadur” to most, One of India’s greatest generals, a good officer, was blunt and a gentleman to the core would have turned hundred today.
Sam Bahadur was first honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, the nation’s second highest civilian award. Then in 1973, he became the first Indian army officer to be promoted to the highest military rank of Field Marshal.
The government may have forgotten the Sam who led India to its greatest military victory but for lakhs of soldiers and military enthusiasts, Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw will continue to remain an inspiration.
