TENDER SURE ROAD AND FOOT PATH FOR SILK BOARD JUNCTION TO MYSORE ROAD – ON SIGNAL FREE CORRIDOR

Tender sure roads and footpath from Silk Board Junction to Mysore Road –  The longest signal-free corridor in Bengaluru (14.5 km) is estimated to cost over Rs 200 crore and the BBMP has proposed this ambitious Project.

The proposed stretch in south Bengaluru, which when ready will be the longest signal-free road in the city, is estimated to cost Rs. 153.42 crore. An additional Rs 50 crore will need to be added to this sum to replicate on this road the kind of work done on some CBD roads recently, which the civic body is willing to do.
A coordination meeting of BBMP, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) and the contractor who is awarded with the work, MVR IPPL, was held recently. It was during this meet that building the corridor to TenderSURE standards was discussed. This signal-free corridor will have three underpasses and two flyovers on the entire stretch.
The contractor was asked to submit a new project report with the financial variation. BBMP field engineers shall provide the necessary details for the new variant, it was decided. The contractor requested for extra time to upgrade the work it was already allotted, to the enhanced quality. While saying it would give the revised tender within a week, for timely execution of the project, the contractor requested that the approval be made within 15 days.
The two flyovers have been planned at KEB junction and Dollars Colony, while the underpasses will be built at Dr Muthurraj Road junction, Food World junction at Banashankari and at Jedimara junction to ensure continuous flow of traffic.
An engineer of the project revealed that the resetting footpaths will be undertaken under the TenderSURE specification, while the existing road will be strengthened by laying another layer of tar. According to the tender agreement, the scheduled works have to be completed within 18 months.
