BPMC – Hope for Bengaluru`s planned development ?

BANGALORE METROPOLITAN PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING

The first meeting of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Planning Committee (BMPC)  held on Wednesday evening and the Chief Minister has been elected as its chairman unopposed.

The BMPC has 88 members, including 10 nominated members and 20 elected representatives. The other members, who are permanent invitees, include MLAs and Lok Sabha members within the BDA area, and MLCs and Rajya Sabha members with voting rights in Bengaluru. Of the 88 members, 20 elected representatives – 18 councillors from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and two from Zilla Panchayat or Taluk Panchayat.  The agenda for the next meeting will be placed and  four other members will be chosen – two from Zilla Panchayat or Taluk Panchayat in the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) jurisdiction, apart from two nominated members, including a town planning expert and an economist and all of them having voting powers.

Further, the suggestions and recommendations made by the Bengaluru Vision Group would be placed before the BMPC will be ratified.
